Our roasting schedule

We roast coffee twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday, and all coffee orders are dispatched within two working days of ordering. The coffee you receive from us will be roasted and sent to you fresh, without exception.

Delivery - Just coffee

Delivery is £3.50, or free if your order is £20 or over. Our
delivery service is Royal Mail Tracked 24, meaning delivery time averages one
working day. Your coffee will likely arrive Thursday, but occasionally Friday.
If your coffee doesn’t arrive by Saturday, then please get in touch
at roastery@taylorsofharrogate.co.uk

Delivery - Just equipment

If you’re ordering brewing equipment only, things work
slightly differently. Delivery will always be £5.50 and your order will be sent
by DPD Next Day. It will be dispatched the next working day, and will arrive
the next working day after that.

Delivery - Coffee and Equipment

If you’re ordering coffee and brewing equipment together,
then postage will be £5.50 and your order will be sent by DPD Tracked. But
because your coffee will be roasted to order on the next Tuesday, the whole
delivery will be sent out on the Wednesday and arrive on the Thursday.

100% Arabica Coffee Beans. For maximum freshness, drink as soon as possible. Once opened, keep in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. Roasted and packed in the UK by Taylors of Harrogate, HG2 7LD.

A fresh crop coffee from our long-standing partners, Colombia San Sebastian, and two of the region’s rising star smallholder producers, Luz Adriana Campos and Silvio Chamorrah.

New drying beds funded through the sale of our previous Silvio & Luz lot has resulted in an even sweeter, fruitier, more vibrant lot from these two producers, representing the very peak of the region’s quality.

In the cup, you can expect a lively, sweet and clean profile - with juicy mango and orange notes, subtle hints of black tea and florals and a vanilla-caramel sweetness.

Story of Silvio & Luz

SAN SEBASTIAN COFFEE

SAN SEBASTIAN COFFEE

San Sebastian is not a region, or a farm. It’s a brand of coffee started by our export partners Caravela, to bring together the producers in the La Plata region around a consistent flavour profile and quality. And we’re consistently impressed by that quality, which is why we’ve partnered with them for over a decade - buying larger quantities of their coffee to roast for our single origin supermarket range, and small batches of its very best ‘micro-lot grade’ coffee for our Discovery range (the one you’re reading about).

The operation is run by Occcafe and Global Cafes, two associations that act as buying and training centres for 261 producer members nestled high in the La Plata hills, many of them in remote, difficult to reach locations. When their coffee is ready, farmers pile themselves and their coffee onto a communal truck that picks them up as it winds down mountain and takes them to these stations where their coffee is cupped, graded and paid for.

Over the years we’ve helped fund a climate change monitoring system for the producer network, training to help them deal with waste-water in an climate-friendly way, and the creation of virtual classrooms that they can use to learn about farm management.

MEET LUZ

The producersMEET LUZ

“The idea to sell specialty coffee came about through hearing a commercial on the radio from Global Cafes.” says Luz Adriana Campos, as we sit overlooking the sheer slopes of Finca Villa Maria, the 9-hectare farm that she owns and runs with her husband Victor.

Since then, the couple – both in their late twenties, with two children – have worked with the association and their agronomists to continually improve their growing, processing and sustainability methods.

Previously, the family only had a small area to dry their coffee. So while some of their crop could be dried carefully and sold as speciality, much of it was sold as commercial grade coffee that attracts lower premiums.

We’re thankful to all our customers who bought the first issue of Silvio & Luz, as the new drying beds we were able to fund together have helped move them one step closer to their dream of selling 100% of their coffee as specialty.

MEET SILVIO

The ProducersMEET SILVIO

Part of the group that founded Occicafe, Silvio Chamorrah is a warm, proud, expressive and well-respected figure within the La Plata coffee community. He and his wife Maria have 8 children, all of which are continuing the family tradition, having been taught by Silvio and setting up farms nearby.

When we visited Finca Villa Maria recently, we were impressed by its resourceful beauty. With tightly packed rows of Colombia and Caturra coffee trees, bursting with fat, ripe cherries.

Much like Luz and Victor, new larger drying beds are allowing Silvio to take his quality and consistency to the next level.

How to brew Silvio & Luz

While equally at home as a well-balanced filter or a bright espresso shot, we particularly love brewing this coffee in a Chemex. Why? Not only does it amplify its crisp, clean acidity but you can brew enough to satisfy the inevitable demand for this crowd-pleaser.
