Gisovu White Buds

What if we told you white tea could taste like peaches? We asked Gisovu Tea Estate - growers of some of the best black tea in Africa - to try something new and create a white tea especially for us. The result is Gisovu White Buds, a white tea so uniquely fresh and peachy that it completely blew our socks off. If you're a tea fan, this is not to be missed.

Ingredients: 100% white tea leaves. To store, just reseal the pack and keep it in the cupboard. Blended and packed in the UK by Taylors of Harrogate, HG2 7LD.

On its own

This tea was developed in collaboration with Gisovu.

We combined our years of experience in buying and tasting white teas and theirs in growing and manufacturing superb, high grown tea. The outcome is an exceptional and delicate tea with beautiful silvery buds. Totally new for the farm and us, it rivals the best white tea in China - and has a character all of its own.

“ Gisovu is renowned for making some of the finest tea in Africa. This exquisite handmade delicate white tea has aromas of melon and peachy notes ”

Ian Brabbin, Head of Tea

White teas are the least processed of all teas

Individual bushes are specially selected for the downy silver buds they produce. These buds are then hand plucked in the dry quality season, slightly rolled by hand to give some style and then dried in the sun. As these buds are the new growth on the tea bush , they are packed full of anti-oxidants and catechins.

We have been buying teas from Gisovu for over 30 years. Our buyers visit every year and stay on the garden.

Since 2009 we have been working on a host of projects in the communities around Gisovu, working together on farmer field schools to improve smallholders' yields and income, bringing water to tea growing communities and most recently introducing cricket coaching to the region.

We have an annual award, Supplier of the Year, which recognises suppliers who go the extra mile in their commitment to quality, sustainability and building relationships. Gisovu was our 2015 supplier of the year for tea, and they visited Harrogate to collect the award in person.
